MARTINEZ IGLESIAS, Marisol I.  e  IGLESIAS MONTERO, Gerardo. Sociolinguistic competence for a multicultural context: utopia or reality?. Conrado [online]. 2018, vol.14, n.63, pp. 49-56.  Epub 05-Jun-2018. ISSN 1990-8644.

This work shows that the educational contexts are qualified of diverse cultures, what is known in the literature with the name of multiculturalism. This work addresses the influence of "little knowledge of the cultures of others in a multicultural context in the high school groups affects the development of learning activities of Spanish in the classroom and therefore the development of communication in this language". In order to promote language learning a research is developed based on the diagnosis of the linguistic and sociolinguistic need generated by this type of context and a didactic proposal is made to reduce this type of need, emphasizing the development of sociolinguistic competence as an essential part of the communicative competence in foreign languages. The proposal is based on cooperative learning from a historical - cultural perspective and from the communicative approach in the classes of Spanish as a foreign language. During the investigation, several methods and techniques of data collection and analysis were used, which helped to clarify the problem, the evaluation of the design and its implementation. The results corroborate the validity of the didactic strategy applied and the need for its generalization in other Cuban higher education centers.
