This work deals with the role of songs in English in order to develop language learning strategies and listening comprehension in university students. The purpose of this paper is to present a methodological proposal to use songs in English in order to develop language learning strategies and listening comprehension. This paper explains physiological, psychological, affective and memory mechanisms which are activated within the use of songs that also contribute to motivate students towards the subject. Taking into account that nowadays students' implication and responsibility on their learning process is quite relevant, the language learning strategies use could contribute to work out with this aim.
