Several investigations support that today's society becomes increasingly complex as the different cultures that coexist in a territorial space face the hegemonies that subjugate or make their existence transparent. In this context, education has the responsibility to face ambiguity and uncertainty about the immediate future of multiculturalism in times of globalization through its practices. Theoretical reflections regarding this problem constitute here a necessary reference when the objective of this work is proposed, to identify the position that must be assumed in Colombian educational practice. An attempt is made to overcome the conceptual ambiguity and raise the relevance of multicultural education, from which a group of ideas is configured for a national projection, consistent with the demands of international policies that support the way to overcome.
