HUAMAN GUTIERREZ, Zoraida Judith; OLIVARES TAIPE, Paulo César; ANGULO CALDERON, César Augusto  e  MACAZANA FERNANDEZ, Dante Manuel. Academic performance and learning styles in statistics I. Case study university systems school of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. Conrado [online]. 2021, vol.17, n.79, pp. 310-317.  Epub 02-Abr-2021. ISSN 1990-8644.

The quantitative approach research, of non-experimental design and basic type, in that line had the objective of increasing scientific knowledge on the behavior of the study variables (learning styles and academic performance). The scope of the study is correlational, cross-sectional, because it sought to determine the level of association or correlation between both variables by means of the proposed working hypotheses. The study sought to understand how active, reflective, theoretical and pragmatic learning styles are associated to a greater or lesser extent with academic performance. The study took into account a population of 144 students participating in the EAP sistemas-UNMSM, taking as a sample 100 students selected probabilistically, who were surveyed and evaluated at a given time in order to know the students' way of learning. The Chi-square test was used to determine whether the two variables are independent, and Kendal's Tau-b correlation statistic was also used to determine the degree of association between them. The research reached the following conclusion: Learning styles and academic performance are significantly related in the participants of the School of Systems in the Statistics I course of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos.
