The article addresses partial results of an investigation about the self-management process of the extension work of the students. The general objective was aimed at establishing a methodology for the self-management of the extension work of the students, for which the results corresponding to their first two research tasks were presented. The general method of the study was the dialectical-materialist, along with other theorists such as the historical-logical and empirical ones such as the analysis of documents, the interview and the survey. The theoretical systematization in the international context and in Cuba, as well as its characterization at the University of Pinar del Río, made it possible to determine, as results, a set of regularities about the process under study.
