This article is one of the results of the research project “Training of nursing professionals for the development of comprehensive sexuality education”; that takes place at the National Center for Sex Education. As part of the first stage, a systematization was carried out with the objective of analyzing the training of human resources in Nursing on issues related to sexuality, sexual health and sexuality education. For this, different periods and stages have been taken into account; This allowed us to follow the trajectory of the phenomenon to be investigated and the events in the historical evolution before and after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution. The results showed that it is a challenge for the nursing staff to professionalize them, not only in the acquisition of tools to carry out health education according to the current situation of sexual and reproductive health indicators; but in them intentionally placed theoretical and methodological elements related to the comprehensive education of sexuality.
