In the current conditions of the Cuban educational system, recognize environmental education for sustainable development as the main solution measure to address complex environmental problems from the focus on the different teaching disciplines that make up the plan of the teaching process of the initial training of teachers, it is very important for the preparation of students, however, this process shows deficiencies in the treatment in the discipline Economic and Social Geography. Taking into account the above criteria, the objective of the research is centered on: Elaborating a conception for the didactic treatment of the environmental education process for sustainable development in the Economic and Social Geography discipline in the Bachelor of Education: Geography career. The following are offered as results: the analysis of the theoretical foundations related to the treatment of the environmental education process for sustainable development in this discipline, the results of the diagnosis of how said treatment is in the Geography career, of the University of Pinar del Río, the systematization that is done to expose the elements to be taken into account for the treatment and the fundamentals, as well as to define the categories, principles and characteristics of the conception, which are specified in the three stages and fourteen actions of the strategy that determines the teaching actions for the coherent and systematic treatment of this process in the discipline.
