Introduction:

Sustainable Development Goal 4 posits education as an integral element of development by encouraging people to change their way of thinking and thus work towards sustainability. Political, social and economic approaches influence the development of health and education systems. The proper link between these elements enhances governmental efforts to improve professional training and thus the health of the population.

Objective:

To analyze the contribution of the social approach in medical education as a fundamental aspect in achieving sustainable development.

Development:

The study was developed on the basis of qualitative research methods and techniques that allowed a critical analysis of the information collected, being the methods of the theoretical level the analytical-synthetic and the historical-logical and as a technique for collecting information to the interview.

Conclusions:

There is a marked social approach in educational training, the existing human resources and scientific-technical capacities together with the development of the health system constitute a strength, which has an impact on the health of the population.
