Background:

information and communication technologies are an effective medium for learning at all levels of education, including medical sciences.

Objective:

to design a website to meet the learning needs on high blood pressure in medical science students.

Method:

a technological development study was carried out at Granma University of Medical Sciences, from September 2017 to January 2018. Theoretical and empirical methods were used. The product was validated using the Delphi method and its effectiveness was verified by means of a questionnaire applied before and after its implementation.

Results:

an effective tool was developed for the learning of the contents related to arterial hypertension by students of the medical sciences. Before applying the website, most of the students showed a low level of knowledge on hypertension, this situation changed after applying it when the majority reached a high level in the assimilation on this pathology.

Conclusions:

the designed website was positively valued by the experts who considered its generalization in teaching appropriate; Users also gave favorable opinions and its effectiveness was demonstrated by raising the level of knowledge in the students for whom it was created.
