Resumo

Background:

mechanical ventilation is a procedure that requires the skills of the specialties related to the care of critically ill patients.

Objective:

to assess the quality of the course on mechanical ventilation based on the level of satisfaction of the specialists who participated in it.

Methods:

a descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out from 2012 to 2020, at “Joaquín Albarrán Domínguez” Clinical Surgical Teaching Hospital. Theoretical, empirical and mathematical-statistical methods were used. The Iadov technique was applied to assess the satisfaction of the trainees.

Results:

from 2012 to 2020, 194 professionals received the course. 61.8% were evaluated as excellent in terms of the theoretical knowledge acquired, and 30% obtained an average grade in terms of practical management. 60% of them granted the highest evaluation rank to the development of the course; while 72.1% had clear satisfaction and referred improvement in their skills for ventilated patient care.

Conclusions:

the quality of the course was good demonstrated in the level of satisfaction of the trainees; and additionally, the teachers who taught it improved their skills to approach ventilated patients.
