The challenges facing education at the present time point to the quality of the educational process, so it is a necessity the preparation of highly competent teachers to assume their social order. In this sense a significant aspect is the preparation from the psychopedagogical point of view, which allows it to respond to the increasing demands and increasingly complex conditions to assume its role as a guide in its pedagogical practice. This article deals with the considerations about the training of the students of the Career of Initial Education in the Metropolitan University of Ecuador, are taken into account as curricular units, subjects that contribute to the development of competences to assume their role as guiding, So that they can arrive at the design of strategies of orientation and intervention, more adequate to approach the educational process in the children under 5 years.
