This study examines the factors influencing adoption intention of e-wallet services among the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the retail industry. Specifically, five factors are chosen based on the Diffusion of Innovation theory in this study. The five factors are relative advantages, compatibility, complexity, trialability, observability. Using questionnaire survey on 175 SMEs, this study shows that out of the five factors, four factors namely, relative advantages, compatibility, trialability and observability significantly influence the adoption intention of e-wallet services. However, this study shows that complexity has no significant influence on the adoption intention of e-wallet services. The findings of this study offer financial institutions and application developers a deeper understanding on the factors that may influence on the adoption of e-wallet among SMEs and improve their market region and implementation of e-wallet services successfully in Malaysia.
