SANCHEZ GARRIDO, Alberto; PENAFIEL SALAZAR, Andy Josué  e  MONTES DE OCA NAVAS, Carlos Andrés. Influence of sociocultural factors on the nutritional status of children from three to ten years of age, users of the child development centers of the municipality of Ambato. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.2, pp. 175-179.  Epub 02-Abr-2022. ISSN 2218-3620.

This paper analyzes the different factors that influence the quality of child nutrition in the Ecuadorian context, which allows a nutritional assessment with the aim of providing highly effective health care and identifying those individuals at risk. Knowledge of the influencing factors is of vital importance for the determination of adequate nutrition as a basis for the growth and development of children with the purpose of avoiding both physical and cognitive repercussions in infants. On the other hand, the influence of the family, social, cultural and economic environment is highlighted as a basis for the development of good eating habits. The analysis of the legal basis that reflects the transformations that have occurred in Ecuador in the last 5 years in relation to this research shows the creation of various comprehensive programs that leave aside their fully welfare conception to become food security and sovereignty programs in recognition of the right of the population to access safe, nutritious, culturally appropriate food and the necessary resources to produce them. In this way, regardless of the existing inequality, the willingness of different organizations to combat malnutrition and its negative impact on society is evident.
