Studies in Science, Technology and Society, make up an important area of ​​work in academic research, public policy and education where universities play a decisive role. The appearance of mode 3 of knowledge production in these studies ensures the need for the intensive use of knowledge and the establishment of important relationships between the community - civil society, business, government and the university. The social commission of Higher Education Institutions and in particular of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports Sciences is given by the materialization of the Investigative Labor Practice in the base link where the design of community projects, as a specific professional skill declared in the professional model of Study Plan E, it is revealed as the primary way for the visualization of mode 3 of knowledge production. Therefore, this research is directed to the analysis of the links between mode 3 of knowledge production and the specific professional ability: design community projects with a transformative purpose, based on the diagnosis of sociocultural needs and physical activity of the population, in the contexts in which they carry out their work and research activities.
