The Problem-based Teaching theory, known by Cubans over the last three decades, was developed and enriched due to the work of a team of professors from Enrique José Varona Havana Pedagogic University. However, this conception has been little used through those years because its development requires some pedagogic skills, as well as teaching-ability styles in order to make use of its richness, so it can achieve its functions to the students’ advantage. The author analyses the system of categories and methods in problem-based teaching conception, and gives some information about its importance. The author´s purpose is also to explain some pieces of research carried out over these years of Cuban experiences in Problem-based Teaching which have enriched its theory. In addition, it is revealed how it leads to solid lasting and motivated scholar apprenticeship.
