Introduction:
The community quarantine situation has been one of the most far-reaching actions carried out to contain the spread of COVID-19. The sudden change in social dynamics brings with it a diversity of effects at the individual and family level that has been less approached from the perspective of the community. The objective of this work is to describe the psychosocial impacts of the quarantine on 26 de Julio neighborhood in Holguín, a community in which a local transmission event was identified and it remained isolated for 33 days.
Methods:
A qualitative, exploratory and descriptive piece of research was carried out with the use of focus groups in different categories of the population. It is concluded that the psychosocial impact was observed in all the population groups studied.
Results:
Negative and positive effects were identified, related to the community's adaptive capacity; in this context, the government's management was recognized. The limitations of the study are also exposed.
