Texto del Resumen In this study, through a systematization of previous studies, we delve into the historical-logical perspective of the concept of Educommunication and its definition. On the other hand, as a result of a bibliographic research, we framed its importance in the audiovisual and digital context. According to Agustín García Matilla, (2003) Educommunication "aims to provide each person with the expressive capacities essential for their normal communicative development and for the development of their creativity. Likewise, it offers the instruments to understand the social production of communication, to know how how power structures work, what are the techniques and expressive elements that the media use to manipulate and be able to appreciate messages with sufficient critical distance, minimizing the risks of manipulation". The increase in technological development and the Internet, especially based on its strong audiovisual component, allows users to have full access to information. But this has not necessarily generated more education or true information, on the contrary, we have witnessed a massification of opinion, social division, polarization, and dispersion of fake news. (Ferreira, 2018). It is urgent and important to reflect on education for audiovisual communication, as well as increasing education for communication professionals and raising society's awareness of the dangers to which we are exposed as users. In this context, Educommunication emerges as an alternative, an orientation for good practices in the audiovisual and digital context.
