SANDOYA VALDIVIESO, César; SOLER MAS, Yanela  e  HERRERA BARREDA, Dagmar. Radio Integration and local development in Ecuador. ARCIC [online]. 2022, vol.11, n.28, pp. 113-135.  Epub 14-Nov-2022. ISSN 2411-9970.

The purpose of this paper is to describe the role of Radio Integration as a community radio station and its potential for local development. This radio is located in the Ecuadorian canton of Puyango, belonging to the province of Loja. In the development of the article, the theoretical references that support community radio in terms of developmentare addressed, it is particularized in the characteristics of Radio Integration and how it is related to the existing local developmentactions in the canton. The historical-logical, analysis-synthesis and inductive-deductive method were used, and information collection techniques such as the structured interview, the survey and the focus group were applied. The results abtained allow us to conclude that: 1) community radio must promote respect, inclusion, commitment tohistory, traditions and the socio-economic reality of the localities where it is inserted, hence it is closely related and committed with its local development projects; 2) the radio station Radio Integration, through its programs, promotes democracy, dialogue and interculturality, and 3) despite the fact that it is adequately positioned in the collective imagination of the community, Radio Integration still needs to work harder to involve the people in communication initiatives based on local development.
