The Santiago province has the Baconao river basin, on which different anthropic activities have been put into practice, together with the impacts produced by extreme phenomena, generate multiple problems for the environment. This research has as general objective a characterization as a fundamental tool, for the application of the environmental management system, delving into the behavior of meteorological variables, at different heights, using the gradient calculation method, zoning seismic zones of the territory, established in NC 46:1999, areas of penetration of the sea and floods. Its physical-geographical and socio-administrative characteristics are evaluated, linking the different actors that have an influence on the alteration, improvement and sustainability of the environment in the Baconao river basin. Obtaining that fluvial floods in the Baconao basin are generally catalyzed by heavy rainfall, occurring in the upper part of the basin, erosion constitutes one of the main geological hazards.
