VIERA GONZALEZ, Endris Yoel; BARCIA SARDINAS, Sinaí  e  GOMEZ DIAZ, Dianelly. The contribution of the Global Framework for Climate Services to Integrated Coastal Zone Management. Rev. Cubana Met. [online]. 2023, vol.29, n.2  Epub 11-Maio-2023. ISSN 2664-0880.

Coastal zones, with their eminent fragility, constitute a unique system of valuable and highly productive resources and biodiversity, which requires special management and planning approaches. Anthropic influence has exerted strong pressure, causing serious problems of habitat destruction, water pollution, coastal erosion and resource depletion. These problems, together with the threats of dangerous meteorological phenomena, require integrated management plans to achieve economic and sustainable development. Hence, the Integrated Management of Coastal Zones constitutes an important support for the development of said zones. The integration of climate services plays an important role in this context. The general objective of this work is: To theoretically support that climate services from the Global Framework for Climate Services approach can become a tool to improve the Integrated Management of Coastal Zones with a view to reducing the effects of climate variability and climate change. The implementation of climate services from this perspective can be used as a tool for Integrated Coastal Zone Management, allowing better management of the risks and opportunities posed by climate variability and climate change.

Palavras-chave : Integrated management of coastal zones; climate services.
