Introduction:

the lack of awareness and perception of risk in man have favored the existence of global environmental problems, what it has intensified the global warming and it has caused the so-called climate change.

Objective:

to design an educative-environmental strategy led by nursing about climate change to senior high school 11th grade students from Quemado de Güines, in the school year 2018-2019, first semester.

Methods:

a cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out in the context and period indicated. The study population was represented by all the 11th grade students 67). The sample consisted of (46) students selected intentionally. A questionnaire was applied to evaluate the level of knowledge and an educational strategy was designed in a second moment.

Results:

the clarity was not perceived in relation to the definition of climate change, most of them considered it important (91.30%), the little knowledge of the causes that provoke it was highlighted, about the consequences for the health, there was a predomination of the threats to safety and availability of water and food sources (52.17%) and more than 80% of those surveyed manifested that they did not know the methods to stop the problem.

Conclusion:

despite the fact that young people attached a great importance to climate change, there was misinformation and ignorance on the subject, so some prevention and promotion activities were designed, as a proposal for a prepared environmental educational strategy by a health team that a nursing graduate leads.
