A comparative study of 2 clonazepam formulations, the national formulation in tablets 1 mg, batch 2 003, and the Rivotril^R 0.5 mg imported from La Roche, batch 818 997, Spain, was carried out. Their anticonvulsant activity was evaluated by inducing convulsions with pentylenetetrazole; whereas the motor coordination and the myorelaxing effect were evaluated by using the rotatory rod method in Swiss albinic mice from the Biological Control Lab colony, in both cases. The two products were active to convulsions, but the national one was stronger than the imported one. No significant difference was observed in the other two parameters. Of the formulations studied a higher therapeutic margin was obtained with the national product.
