Resumo

Specialist physicians from two hospitals in the City of Havana were surveyed to find out their cirteria on the fundamental tasks of the hospital pharmacist as part of a health team. The five questions dealth with concepts of the rational use of drugs, pharmacist´s functions, drug information, notification of drug adverse reactions and the Pharmacotherapeutica Committee funcions. A discriminating analysis was conducted which revealed that the mejority of the best-informed group (66,67 %) belong to hospital A and only 33,33 % belonged to Hospital B whereas in the poorly informed groups, 75 % of physicians belonged to hospital B and only 25 % to Hospital A. From the classic factor analysis two common factors in the sample were taken one related with functions of the hospital pharmacist and those of the Pharmatherapeutic Committee and the other associated with the rational use of drugs. The comparison of average scorings in each of the five questions 2 and 3 between the two hospitals. However, no significant difference was found in the remaining questions. In hospital A, is a pharmacist-health team institutional interdisciplinary policy whereas in the other center, pharmacist-promoted actions are spontaneously generated with those physicinaswho are interested in a joint work.
