Mortality shows the health status of the population, so, it is important the identification of causes, which predominate in a territory, in order to act properly over them, For that reason, they were studied in Camaguey, taking into account the age between 15 and 59 years' old, because it is, the living period with the greater productive and reproductive value. An analysis of trends between 1980 and 1991 was made, and extreme triennial periods were studied according to the first causes, ages, and sex; fuethermore, the characteristics of premature mortality were known. A decrease in 3 of the 4 main causes of death was made evident. The order was generally kept in the 2 analysed triennial periods; degenerating causes were increased by age, and accidentes, and suiciedes, and autoinflictes lesions led to the greater amount of premature deaths.
