DIAZ FERNANDEZ, José Manuel; JARDON CABALLERO, José e PEREZ ARREDONDO, Ricardo. Metafocal manifestations of odontogenic infection and their direct relationship with ophthalmopathies. MEDISAN [online]. 2009, vol.13, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1029-3019.
Focal infection is characterized by the presence of a primary septic focus that can be located in the bucco-facial region and may be irradiated to other distal or systemic parts, imposing to diagnose it adequately and conveniently to be able to treat and suppress it, although in certain cases it is not possible to eradicate the successive infection for its severity or chronicity. To carry out this research, the existing literature was reviewed on the possible anatomic regions or structures which can be damaged by primary septicodontogenic focuses, with special emphasis in the diverse pathogenic theories on the close relation between the vision organs and the teeth.
