LIMONTA VIDAL, Elena et al. Knowledge of oral health in patients of the dentist's office Barrio Bolívar in Venezuela. MEDISAN [online]. 2009, vol.13, n.6, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1029-3019.
A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out to determine the knowledge level on oral health in 111 patients older than 15 years that went for the first time from August to October, 2006 to the dentist's office in Barrio Bolívar, Parroquia Petare Norte, Sucre municipality of Gran Caracas state of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. It was obtained that 98,2% of the patients had non appropriate knowledge of the most frequent oral diseases and their prevention; 88,3% of the importance of the teeth, oral soft tissue and oral self-examination; and the entirety of the aspects related to the plaque. The conclusion is that the high percentage of patients with non appropriate knowledge about oral health, justified to recommend the development of visits for oral counselling and to develop educational interventions to elevate that population's sanitary culture.
