GONZALEZ-GONZALEZ, Alejandro et al. Characterization of the permeability of porous polylactic acid scaffolds fabricated with commercial 3D printers. Ingeniería Mecánica [online]. 2023, vol.26, n.2, pp. 30-39. Epub 10-Fev-2024. ISSN 1815-5944.
In this work, the permeability property of porous scaffolds, made of polylactic acid by 3D printing using the fused deposition method (FDM), is characterized from the mathematical-statistical modeling of the relationship between porosity and permeability. The scaffolds were designed with internal morphology of triply periodic minimal surfaces of the Schwarz Diamond, Gyroid and Primitive types with three levels of porosity: 50, 60 and 70 %. Manufacturing was carried out on the commercial Wanhao 6D printer. The permeability measurement was performed in an experimental setup that complies with Darcy's law. The results for each structure fit a quadratic polynomial with a correlation coefficient greater than 98% for all cases. The normality and homoscedasticity tests indicate the relevance of the models.
