Forty myringoplasties performed at the Otorhinolaryngologic service of "Joaquín Albarrán" Clinicosurgical and Teaching hospital during July, 1992-1995 were revised with the aim of assessing anatomic and functional results. Twenty five cases underwent a myrinngoplasty with the use of the Underlay technique and 15 cases with the use of the Onlay technique. In general, good anatomic results were obtained, mainly with the use of the Underlay technique, while from the functional point of view, a greater hearing improvement was attained with the use of the Onlay technique
