The evolution of the Committee of Evaluation of Surgical Procedures in relation to major surgery at the "Comandante Manuel Fajardo" Teaching Hospital was analyzed from 1995 to 1997. It was observed that 99.1%of the operations had evaluation A-1 and B-1 and that only 0.89% were not evaluated. The evaluation of B-1 was more frequent in emergency than in elective surgery
