GALVEZ CHAVEZ, Julio César y MILLAN, Yván Jesús. Anthropometric changes in the mestizo nose after open rhinoplasty. Rev Cubana Cir [online]. 2007, vol.46, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-2945.
The nasal anthropometric changes in a series of 29 mestizo patients that underwent open rhinoplasty are described. The mestizo nose of the sample was characterized by broad dorsum, normal height, wide and hypoprojected nose tip, acute nasolabial angle, retrusive columella, disproportionate dorsum-tip relation and non-equilateral base-tip triangle. The aesthetic results were evaluated as fair in every patient, according to the aesthetic patterns accepted as ideal. With the surgical plan used, all the anatomical regions improved. The most significant changes were observed in parameters such as the projection and tip width, as well as in the width and height of the dorsum. The modifications were less marked as regards the projection of the columella, the base-tip triangle and the nasolabial angle.
