Amyand´s hernia is generally diagnosed during the surgical act. Its incidence rate ranges from 0.28 to 1 %. The objective of this paper was to present an infrequent type of hernia. This is a report on a 82 years-old male patient who was hospitalized for surgical treatment with diagnosis of right stuck inguinal hernia and he was diagnosed with Amyand´s hernia in the surgical act. The recommended treatment is appendectomy through an inguinal incision with primary repair of the hernia using the same incision. Due to the diagnostic difficulties that this disease presents it is important to carry out correct anamnesis and physical examination.
