FORTEZA SAEZ, Mariuska et al. Patient with carotid body tumor. Rev Cubana Cir [online]. 2015, vol.54, n.3. ISSN 0034-7493.

Carotid body tumors (paragangliomas) are highly vascularized, infrequent and generally benign neoplasms that emerge in the carotid body chemoreceptors. This is a male patient aged 54 years with increased right cervical volume, preoperative study and angiography by computerized tomography; the result was carotid body tumor. Subadventitial dissection was made for biopsy which yielded the diagnosis of paraganglioma. The tumor was completely excised, with no evidence of recurrence or complication.

Keywords : paraganglima; carotid body; tumor.
