Resumen

RUBIO HERNANDEZ, Luis Alberto et al. Hábitos de prescripción de Antimicrobianos Aminoglucósidos en pacientes oncológicos. Rev Cubana Farm [online]. 2001, vol.35, n.3, pp. 192-198. ISSN 1561-2988.

A retrospective study was conducted to determine the frequency of utilization of aminoglucosides according to the localization of the tumor, the type of surgery, the diagnostic confirmation of sepsis, the surgical prophylaxis and the days of treatment. A descriptive statistics that was initiated with the review of medical histories corresponding to 157 cases of patients admitted in the National Institute of Oncology and Radiobiology (NIOR) was applied. Gentamicine was the most used antimicrobic with a frequency of 52.2 %. It was also the elective antibiotic in clean, clean-contaminated and contaminated surgery. It was observed that aminoglucosides were only indicated to 42 % of the patients based on the systemic indicators and the microbiological tests, since 29.9 % received them prophylactically and for 19.7 % the treatment was empirical. On the other hand, 56 % of these patients with diagnostic confirmation of sepsis were prescribed aminoglucosides with acceptable treatment duration, that is, between 5 and 7 days. Likewise, this behavior is justified in those who had it up to 10 days (21.8 %) due to the analyzed affections and to the characteristics of these oncological patients with frequent complications.
