Abstract

VALDES RODRIGUEZ, Yolanda C; BILBAO DIAZ, Miguel; LEON ALVAREZ, José L  and  MERCHAN GONZALEZ, Francisco. Origen e importancia de la fosfolipasa A2 de secreción. Rev Cubana Farm [online]. 2002, vol.36, n.2, pp.121-128. ISSN 0034-7515.

Phospholipases A2 form a family of enzymes that hydrolizes the ester sn-2 binding of the glycerophospholipids and release fatty acids mainly araachidonic acid and lisophospholipids. Secretory phospholipids A2 are produced by a number of cells activated by various stimuli like interleukin-1, tumor necrosis factorµ and lipopolysaccharides that cause the accumulation of secretory phospholipases A2 into inflammatory fluids and plasma of patients suffering from several inflammatory diseases. It was recently pointed out that secretory phospholipases preferably act upon microvesicles from cells whose membranes have lost their phospholipid asymmetry.

Keywords : PHOSPHOLIPASES A [isolation & purification]; PHOSPHOLIPASES A [therapeutic use]; PHOSPHOLIPASES A [history]; ENZYME; INTERLEUKIN-1; TUMOR NECROSIS FACTOR; LIPOPOLYSACCHARIDES..
