Abstract
ALONSO CARBONELL, Liuba et al. Characterization of the prescription of trihexyphenidyl and methylphenidateCharacterization of the prescription of trihexyphenidyl and methylphenidate. Rev Cubana Farm [online]. 2005, vol.39, n.1, pp.1-1. ISSN 0034-7515.
An observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study on the utilization of the prescription-indication drugs was conducted aimed at characterizing the prescription pattern of trihexyphenidyl and methylphenidate. All the patients registered for methylphenidate and trihexyphenidyl, 348 and 420, respectively, between January and September, 2004, in Playa municipality, Havana City, were included.. It was proved that there are difficulties in the diagnoses for which trihexyphenidyl is prescribed and that it differs from methylphenidate, that the treatment schemes used were adequate for both drugs and that the primary health care level predominated in the prescription of trihexyphenidyl, whereas the tertiary level prevailed for methylphenidate.
