Resumen

ALONSO CARBONELL, Liuba et al. Prescription pattern of Trihexifenidilo after intervention. Rev Cubana Farm [online]. 2006, vol.40, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-2988.

Introduction: Trihexifenidile is a psychostimulanting substance that may cause addiction, so the prescription of this drug must fulfill a number of requirements to control its consumption. Objectives: characterize the prescription of Trihexifenidile and identify differences between the pattern of prescription of Trihexifenidile after an intervention and the characterized pattern in 2002. Methods: A study of drug use classified as intervention study was carried out in 23 municipalities during two periods (2002 and 2005). All the patients who were registered as trihexifenidile users were included and the collected information was age, sex, municipality, province, diagnosis, pill presentation, daily dose, specialty, level of care and other drugs taken by the patient. Results: it was confirmed that the prescriptions were justified in 90% of cases for the year 2005 compared to 81,8% in 2002. The range of dose was right in 99,8% of cases in 2005 and in 87,2% of cases in the year 2002. The predominant indication in 2005 was extrapyradimal syndrome in 35,3% of cases. Roughly 70% of medical certificates was given by psychiatrists in both years whereas certificates were mainly granted at the primary health care level in both years (79,6% for 2005 and 63% for 2002). Conclusions: The impact of interventions is positive since there has been an improvement in the quality of prescriptions of Trihexifenidile
