The danger the use of drugs of abuse represents for human health led us to expose in a synthesized way some of the considerations all the health professionals should know to understand the most significant particular clinical effects of the addiction to legal and illegal substances during the first years of life. To this end, the data included in the latest statements on their effects, from embriogenesis to adolescence, were reviewed in different databases, which allowed to comprehend why a considerable number of actions have been taken to prevent them, such as the purposes exposed in the projections of Public Health in Cuba for the year 2015
