Resumen

REGO HERNANDEZ, José de Jesús; LEYVA DE LA TORRE, Christian  y  PEREZ SANCHEZ, Magalys. Active screening of suspicions of adverse reactions to drugs in "Dr. Salvador Allende" Hospital: First semester 2006. Rev Cubana Farm [online]. 2007, vol.41, n.3. ISSN 0034-7515.

A descriptive study was conducted by the daily revision of hospital movement obtained in the Department of Medical Registries of "Dr. Salvador Allende" Hospital from January to June, 2006, aimed at identifying the admissions susceptible to adverse reactions to drugs to detect the frequency of admissions due to suspicions of adverse reactions to drugs, as well as to characterize these patients. A notification form was filled in per each suspicion of adverse reaction, and the data contained in the respective medical histories were analyzed. An Excel database designed to this end by the Center for Pharmacoepidemiology Development was used. 6 201 patients were admitted, of whom 384 were susceptible to have adverse reaction to drugs (6.2 %) and, finally, there were 57 patients whose reason to be admitted was connected with some drug (0.9 %). 66.7 % of the cases were over 60, with no differences regarding sex. The most affected parmacological groups were the non-opiod analgesics (59.7 %) and the antibacterials (19.4 %). Upper digestive bleeding proved to be the most common adverse reaction (57.9 %), with predominance in individuals over 60 (72.7 %). Acetylsalisylic acid was present in 66.7 % of the cases with this diagnosis. In 75.5 % of the cases, the reaction was considered severe
