MORENO RODRIGUEZ, Miguel Angel; BURUNATE POZO, Mercedes e OQUENDO LEON, David. Ausencia de correlación clinicopatológica en el diagnóstico de la bronconeumonía. Rev cubana med [online]. 1996, vol.35, n.3, pp. 147-151. ISSN 1561-302X.
A study was conducted in a number of 219 patients who died due to bronchopneumonia at the clinical area of "Carlos J. Finlay" Central Military Hospital during the first semester of 1989 and 1994. The study was aimed at knowing the number of diagnoses made of this condition. The number of cases accounted for 28.9 % in 1989, 28.6 % in 1994, and 28.8 % in general. These values are found to be higher than those reported in the International Literature reviewed. It is concluded that it is necessary to increase the index of suspicion regarding bronchopneumonias in elderly patients in whom systemic manifestations predominate over the respiratory ones.
