The most updated concepts of Alzheimer disease epidemiology and impact worldwide were reviewed. Ptential biological markers were described particularly hippocampal formation atrophy, presence of Tau protein and amyloid beta in cerebrospinal fluid, apoliprotein E4 genotype carrier and Alpha 2 macroglobulin. A diagnostic sequence was suggested to study patients with cognitive disorders, and also reference was made to present therapeutical strategies in treating cognitive and behavioral manifestations of this disease.
