The neurocognitive functions of 74 patients with Parkinson´s disease were evaluated. The diagnostic criteria of dementia from DSM-III were applied. Folstein´s mental state minimum test was used to determine the mental deterioration degree. It was proved that 11 cases(14,8 %) suffered from dementia. It was demonstrated by multivariate analysis that the severity of Parkinson´s disease, its onset at advanced ages, the presence of confounding variables and the treatment with anticholinergic agents were the main variables connected with the appearances of dementia.
