A study was conducted in a population group consisting of 481 apparently sound persons in order to determine the values of forced expiratory flow in the Cuban population. A survey was done and 3 measurements were made to each individual. The results were compared with the peak flow values exisiting in the English tables, which were generally lower. The need of a Cuban peak flow norm was demonstrated. A new norm was proposed after a serious statistical analysis. The calculation of relative error according to the English norm and to the Cuban norm for men and women was made. The error of the English norm was 1.12 higher than the Cuban norm for women and 1.25 for men
