The case of a 25-year-old male patient with past health that was admitted for presenting generalized oedemas, arterial hypertension, oligoanuria and poor health status is presented. The generalized oedemas, an arterial pressure of 140/100 mmHg and a urinary volume of 300 mL in 24 hours were confirmed on medical examination. The following complementary tests were made: Hb: 10.5 g/L; erythrosedimentation: 88 mm; urea: 55.3 mmol/L, creatinin: 162 mmol/L; glomerular filtrate: 37.9 mL/min; total proteins: 50 g/L; albumin: 15 g/L; Addis: doseable albumin; casts: 35 420 (hyaline, haematic, leucocytic) element/min; erythrocytes: 70 070 cel/min; leucocytes: 32 340 cel/min; proteinuira: 2.8 g/L in 24 hours; determination of cryoglobulinemia in blood; and anti-hepatitis C antibody. A renal biopsy compatible with a cryoglobulinemia caused by HCV was performed. The patient was treated with diuretic, albumin 20 %, angiotensin convertase enzyme inhibitors (ACEI), and he received specific treatment for HCV with interferon 5 000 000 twice a week. After a month under treatment the patient reverted his renal function, his clinical picture improved and 2 months later the anti-hepatitis C antibody proved to be negative
