A descriptive and retrospective study was conducted and the epidemiological behavior of the forms of intraparenchymatous and subarachnoid presentation was approached at "Celia Sánchez Manduley" Hospital, in Manzanillo, during 1998, to establish the indicators of morbidity, mortality, lethality and biological and distributive variables of ictus sanguinis. It was found that morbidity from intraparenchymatous hemorrhage tripled the forms of subarachnoid hemorrhage within a rate of 4.1 x 1 000 discharges for both. At the same time, the general mortality rate from intraparenchymatous hemorrhage was 14 times greater than that from the processes of subarachnoid hemorrhage and 4 times larger in terms of lethality. Patients over 60 and males prevailed for both forms of presentation. Arterial hypertension and ages over 60 were the most frequent risk factors.
