It is known that at present there is an increasing interest in studying the consequences of cranioencephalic traumas. Dealing with this topic demands a multidisciplinary approach in which different specialities, such as neurology, neurosurgery, neuropsychology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, among others, take part. The results obtained in recent research were observed. The factors on which the appearance of neuropsychological alterations depends after the brain damage of traumatic origin, as well as its relationship with the cognitive functioning of the patient with this injury, are analyzed in this paper.
