This paper is aimed at improving the knowledge about nutrition of the physicians specialized in different branches of medical assistance. The calculation of the energetic and protein needs of the patients according to the base disease was reviewed. The way the calculation of the energetic and nutrimental needs is made, as well as the low and high energetic diets and their respective indications were explained by giving examples so that the patients have an optimal nutritional status.
