ISSN 1561-302X.
A descriptive correlational and retrospective study of 969 patients that died at "Dr. Gustavo Aldereguía Lima" Hospital, in Cienfuegos, from 1997 to 2001, was conducted aimed at determining the behavior of the clinicopathological correlation in patients with clinical or anatomopathological diagnosis of cerebrovascular disease. Total correlation was found in 51 % of the cases, partial correlation in 23 % and no correlation in 26 %. There was a higher correlation in those patients with consciousness taking and/or neurological motor focalization and headache as forms of clinical presentation. In the non-correlation cases, the clinical overdiagnosis of cerbrovascular disease was more frequent than its finding in the necropsy. Bronchopneumonia was the main cause of both situations.
