A review concerning fever as a disease manifestation in made. It is stressed the importance of the hypothalamus in the control of body tempearture, as well as the different ways to measure it, for which normative or reference values are proposed for our enviroment. The main causes of fever and hyperthermia at pediatric age and the differences existing between these two states are explained.
