Abstract

RUIZ TELLECHEA, Yolma et al. Polisomnografía neonatal en recién nacidos con asfixia severa al nacer. Rev Cubana Pediatr [online]. 2000, vol.72, n.2, pp.81-86. ISSN 0034-7531.

The usefulness sof polysomnography was evaluated in 104 neonates with severe birth asphyxia, who had been born in "Ramón Gónzalez Coro" Gynecologic and Obstetric Hospital from October 1988 to August 1994. To this end, polysomnographic studies were conducted in the first week of life taking into consideration the presence or absence of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, the correlation of neurophysiological study with the neurological examination and the follow-up electroencephalograph register were analyzed; and Kappa stadigraph to measure the level of agreement among variables was used. It was concluded that neonatal polysomnography was a good indicator of anatomic and functional status of the central nervous system in neonatal period.

Keywords : POLYSOMNOGRAPHY [methods]; ASPHYXIA NEONATORIUM.
