Abstract

A case of toxic epidermal necrolysis, a rare disease with a high mortality rate, is presented in a term infant of a primigravida with 39.2 weeks of gestation, eutocic delivery, apgar 8/9, and a body weight of 3 770 g, that presented erythematous and ampollous lesions and necrotic center 2 hours after having been delivered and had a fast unfavorable evolution and died 33 hours after birth. A bibliographic review of the topic was made and its probable pathogeny was commented.
